Brittle Star, Ophioderma appressum
Almost alien-like in their appearance and way of moving across the ocean floor, Brittle Stars pique the curiosity of anyone who has seen one. Their arms are highly flexible and sometimes they choose to move like a snake while other times using two arms at a time and making more of a rowing motion. They also can reproduce by simply splitting in half and then re-growing the other half, a process called fission! Nick did his best to capture the interesting locomotion of this banded arm beauty.
